The purpose of this paper is to identify the image composition that effects on human impressions. Landscape pictures were used in this experiment. Impressions evoked by the images were obtained through by the subjective evaluation. We used 24 images that have been extracted from an original picture of 680×480px. Each image is overlaid to the neighborhood image on 80%. We compared image elements and the impressions from images.
The individual keeps increasing as digital contents spread and the amount of circulation expands and accessible volume of information increasing, too. The problem of the search engine to access target contents can be divided roughly into three "Grasp of the information space", "Acquisition of useful knowledge", and "Correspondence to the information update". In the research of the image retrieval, the development of the similar retrieval technique by the distance judgment of the feature vector space is a main current because it deals with the above-mentioned each problem. However, the example of researching the search engine that values use of the image contents is few. Then, it aims to aim at the development of the technique for tying to acquisition the grasp, and to investigate the user's demand for the image contents retrieval in report. The system that used it to investigate composed of the interface where SOM was used and the intuitive operation frequency is a little. The user's being demanding from the image retrieval as a result of the investigation was able to make something concrete.
In this report, the technique of the search specified as the picture which contains a face in the picture search in a sequential retrieval system was tried. The picture containing a face is chosen as a training picture, and the code book which specialized in the face area is created by a vector quantization method. It experiments in the efficient method of searching to a high speed and a demand in analyzing only the specific area where entropy is high, and is slack. Moreover, it was shown that color information can be efficiently retrieved using a color correlogram.
More than one hundred years ago, von Kries model has been developed for a description of the chromatic adaptation phenomena of the human visual system, and various chromatic adaptation models based on von Kries model have been developing in today. However, there remain some important issues related to von Kries model which have not been clarified up until now. In this paper, the theorems derived for subtractive color mixture problems by us will be applied to the important issues related to von Kries model.
We propose a method for real time creation of 3D animation for 3D characters on the web. As our preliminary attempt, we build and discuss the method for real time skeleton extraction using object data of those 3D characters. Our method consists five steps of transformation into the low polygon model from the object data that composed a large number of polygons, calculation of the sum of geodesic distances from some of the vertices to all vertices on the object data, subdivision of the object data using those geodesic distances, generation of skeleton joints (skeleton node) on the each boundary surface between those subdivision areas, and connection of each skeleton nodes. According to our method, the skeletons from the object data that composed a large number of polygons could extract in real time.
The similarity measure of the ear pinna contour was proposed. The similarity of the pinna is thought to be a growth process recorded in the cartilage shape of the pinna. The feature of the growth process is numeraical pixel when shwing by the ruggedness in an contour line. (1) The approximation method of using a parabolic arc of an contour line is effective to the extraction of this feature. (2) The similarity of an contour line showed that the method by which it measured in amount (det(p’p”)) concerning the area of the support triangle of a parabolic arc was effective. Finally, The method of applying the edge detection method by Canny to the density value acquired like the radiation was effective about an inside edge detection of the pinna with a gradual density change.
This report presents a technical consideration for outline emphasis of ascii-arts imaging. Proposal method constitute from character substitution of image dithering and line drawing style mapping, and the image dithering is gray colors expression technique of grouped pixels, and the line drawing style mapping is introduced for outline emphasis of image. Experimental results revealed embedding capacity depends on the parameters of pattern matching, also, the ascii-arts quality of proposal technique surpassed the conventional dithering ascii-arts at several conditions, smoothly outlines, gradual surfaces, clear boundaries, and so on.
Although a lot of research has been carried out on cursive character recognition, validity of matching measures has not been considered adequately. In online handprinted character recognition, the patterns are often represented by directional data or angular data. But, treatment of such data requires different operations from those of data on ordinary Euclidean space. In this paper, we propose a new matching measure to discriminate between a pair of directional data series, which represent respectively online handprinted character. We confirmed through the classification experiment that, the proposed measures are highly effective for online handprinted character recognition.
Some complex wavelet transform with directionality have been already proposed, which wecan calculate the same as the traditional wavelet transform. In this report, we propose anew supervised segmentation method based on the complex wavelet that is already proposedby us. The proposed method derives more stable results than methods using real waveletbecause the proposed complex wavelet is less shift sensitive. Although the identifcationmethod in the proposed method is a simple method using Mahalanobis distance, we achievedgood results of segmentation for some composite images from Brodatz textures.
In recent years, attention has been paid to particle-based fluid simulation, and many rendering methods for the results of the particle-based fluid simulation have been proposed. We propose an efficient rendering method for the results of the particle based fluid simulation taking into account splashes. We calculate the water surfaces and the surfaces of the splashes by assigning the density to each particle and extracting isosurfaces. The surfaces of the water and splashes are then sampled by points. This makes it possible to render the changes of the shapes from the water surface to splashes efficiently by using the point-based rendering.
Last 10 years Infrared data association "IrDA" have released many types of application layer as IrTranP, IrWW, IrOBEX, IrBurst, IrFM and other. So that IrDA becomes one of the most popular protocols in proximity communications. However, IrDA base transport protocol as IrLAP, IrLMP and TinyTP have been not evolved since 1994 without small modifications. To promote more IrDA services, in 2005, we developed new IrSimple protocol and profile which is published by IrDA. This protocol supports enhancement of IrDA Transport protocol. This technical report will introduce IrSimple concepts, ways of enchantments and relational techniques.
Aiming to realize "Single Source Multi-Use" of video content and the diffusion of HDTV materials to a diverse range of media, including networks and portable video devices, the research has progressed on making HDTV program production more efficient through the application of JPEG2000 video coding scheme with scalability (hierarchical picture features) using Wavelet transform. Elementary technology research led to the construction of a compact PC-based JPEG2000
HDTV codec , a software of Motion-JPEG2000 player and network client that allows simple screening of HDTV material on a general PC, and a JPEG2000 multicast transmission protocol for HDTV material sharing in a networked program production
environment and for relay broadcasting transmission with reduced delay over IP network. It is also available to transmit fully digitalized 16 channels audio sources. A prototype system was also fabricated with the integrations of these elementary technologies. Integration of JPEG2000 scalability and a network environment makes it feasible for program producers to handle mainline HDTV material in a simple PC environment. The system's intra-field coding also contributes to more efficient processing in the preproduction stages, such as material gathering and editing. In addition, the system also activates urgent
news reporting by way of broadband IP network owing to reduced transmission delay of the system.
