In a previous paper, studies on the influence of particle size distribution upon the sedimentation volume of spherical particles cohesive on contact were reported. This paper dealts with the theoretical calculations of the sedimentation volume of attractive spherical particles and the distribution of contact number. When there is an attractive force among particles, both the range of the attraction of gravity and the polydispersity are considered to give influences on the sedimentation volume, and so the examination was focussed at this point. Then the volume fraction <VF>
W, when two kinds of particles are mixed, is determined from the weight average <δ/γ>
W of the ratio of the larger particle attractive force to the radius, δ
1/γ
1 and the ratio of the smaller particle attractive force to the radius δ
2/γ
2, that is [numerical formula] where x
2 is the ratio of smaller particle number. When the size between larger and smaller particles is different remarkably, and also the interparticle attractive force is greater, then a little increasing effect of volume fraction, surrounding the particle, is considered to be additive.
