A project was undertaken to make the neighborhood more green through public participation. This study examine the relation between the increased neighborhood greenery and the residents perception of their greener neighborhood. 313 households in an area covering 9.8ha agreed in writing to participate in this project. The results were as follows; 1) The percentage of greenery in this area increased form 9.8% (1974) to 17.2% (1984). 2) Many of residents were aware of this cooperative agreement. 44% of residents were satisfied with the results, however 47% were undecided whether the results were worthwhile. 3) Many of the participants were having problems maintaining the greenery in their areas. Future projects must take into account the problem of maintenance of the new greenery.
