The materials used with the present study are as follows:
<The talent scouting for all sport events>
・Performance diagnosing test in GDR (at age 8)
<The talent scouting for Track & Field>
・Talent scouting for sprint and jump events in FRG
・Talent scouting for middle and long distance in UdSSR
・Talent scouting for triple jump in UdSSR
・Talent scouting for decathlon in UdSSR
<Age of first participation in a competition>
・Length of time coaching each sport event
・Age of first participation in competition of each sport event
・The sport event and the age division that in 1983 was carried out at Spartakiade(in GDR)
The problems discussing talent scouting are as follows:
(1)It is impossible to evaluate the whole ability of the athletes. But the ability of the athletes must be considered as being influenced separately by training and morphological inherited factors.
(2) The test items about morphological aspects were mainly body weight and body height.
(3) The procedure of talent scouting was the elimination of performance athletes by test results.
(4) Age of the first participation in a competition was different due to the specificity of sport event.
(5) At the time of talent scouting, the morphological aspect must be considered most in some particular sports events.
(6) The present test items of talent scouting is mainly the morphological aspect andphysical fitness. But the quality of the movement process must be evaluated.
