Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) with large surface area and interesting structural properties have risen as a distinctive class of porous materials, which has enabled MOFs to gain attention in a wide range of applications like drug delivery, gas capture and separation, storage, catalysis and sensors. In addition, they have also emerged as efficient materials in electrochemical devices owing to their remarkable properties including fine tunable pore size regulation, functional groups and metals in MOFs etc... In this review, we will explain various examples of MOFs application as electrodes for electrochemical devices including lithium ion battery, lithium air battery, capacitor and fuel cell. Not only intact MOFs but also MOFs derived oxide, sulfide and carbonaceous materials will be presented. Moreover, since MOFs are inherently insulative, conductive composites were prepared with MOFs and MOFs derived materials and introduced as electrodes.
