The influence of the formation of parallel separation units along the packed beds on the separation efficiency has been studied for the chemical emichment of uranium isotopes. In actual enrichment experiments, it has often been observed that the enrichment factor (ε
d) estimated by the amount of enriched uranium is different from the one (ε
g) determined by uranium distributions between solid-liquid phases quasi-theoretically. The results obtained by experiments using the packed column of 100mm in diameter indicated that the fluctuation of ε
d is observed in the formation of parallel separation units caused from the non-uniformity of flow between the near-wall region and central region of packed beds. There are two possible explanations for the fluctuation of ε
d. The one is considered to be due to the shift of some row made up of many separation units to the flow direction, and the other due to the difference in the number of separation units in a row.
