    宮城県において定置網や底びき網によって漁獲される
    カナガシラ
    は,2006年以降徐々に増加し2016年,2017年は300トンを超えるようになった。漁獲物の測定結果および耳石を用いた年齢査定を行い,Gompertz の成長式をもとめたところ,雌雄間で有意差が認められた。雌雄の極限全長は,252 mm,279 mm であり,雌の方が大型に成長することがわかった。成熟全長,成熟年齢は,雄が230 mm,3+歳,雌が250 mm,3+歳と推定された。生殖腺重量指数は,6月をピークに,7-8月にかけて大きく減少した。産卵期は6-8月であり,宮城県沿岸において産卵しているものと推察された。今回の年級組成には卓越発生群が存在せず,また4+歳以上の個体が過半を占めており,2015年級およびそれ以前の年級群がすでに分布していたことが示された。海洋の再生産環境が徐々に好転し,宮城県沿岸での産卵を通じて加入が増加し,資源が増大したものと推察される。

    (1) The writer got on board from Feb. 18 to March 9, 1948 and investigated ecologically Red Gurnards in the Yellow Sea.
    (2) Popularly called Gurnards, Lepidotrigla microptera, form dense schools in the SouthernYellow Sea in winter, and these schools do not migrate to the lower latitude than 32°30'N.
    (3) Body length composition was in the range of 9.6-29.6cm and the most abandantly capt-ured individuals measured 13.0-27.0cm in length. Average body length of the female was 19.78±3.24cm, and that of the male was 19.78±2.185cm. The male amount to 56.67% of the whole.
    (4) Relation between body length and weight was represented as follows:

    Average number of incubation was 140, 000, and diameter of ovum was comparatively sm-all being less than 0.8mm.
    (6) In the fishing season body length was various according to depth. Schools of big gurnards have a tendency to travel in deep water and small ones in shallow.
    (7) The proper depth for catch was in the range of 65-70m, and the best depth for catch was 69m. And composition of body length of the fish caught in the depth of 65-70m were 20. 10±2.408cm.
    (8) Quantative variation of catch according to age of the moon was found. (Fig. 7). Kindsand quantity of bait were also changeable. (Fig. 8).

    The Hyuga Nada (Hyuga High Sea) when taken in wide sense extends off the eastern and east-southern coasts of Kyushu Island, viz., from up north the Bungo Strait down to south the Osumi Penninsula, and abounds, amoungst others, in red gurnards, of which economically important are the following five species; Chelidonichthys kumu, Pachytrigla alata, Lepido-trigla japonicus, L, güntheri and L, microptera. Examination of their stomach contents reveal that they devour by far Crustaceans and those small fishes as hidden in sand-mud or crawling on sea bottom (Table 2). Voracious as they are, their stomach was often found stuffed with food, which weighed 3-4% of the body at maximum. Table 3 and Fig. 1, A-F give the results of the statistical observation of their egg. Ova measuring over 1.0mm in diameter are characterized by having one or three oil globules and almost complete transparency and were taken as mature eggs. The degree of maturity was defined by ratio of mature ova to the whole ovary in weight and is given in Table 6. Single mature ovum weighs about 0.0011gr in Chelidonichthys kumu and about 0.00095gr in Pachytigla alata. Number of ova to be liberated at first spawning is estimated 10, 000-25, 000 in C, kumu, and 2, 000-3, 500 in P, alata.

    Though many taxonomic studies on the japanese Lepidotrigla had been made by several authors, most of them were not sufficient in the treatment of variation of the specific characteristics. Therefore, the resultant uncertainties in the identification embarrassed the population studies of the fishes belonging to the genus.
    Accordingly, in order to make clear the specific characters, I engaged in an observation of a fresh body and in the measurement of several parts of body in the present paper, which was based on the large numberrt of specimens collected from the commercial landings of the Eastern Sea trawlers from 1948 to 1950.
    In the pattern of the innerside of pectorals, six types are distinctly recognizable as shown in Plate I, though they are somewhat divergent. In order to make clear the specification of each types, from the viewpoint of morphometry, I chose the measured value of the individuals falling in the interval of 15±1cm in their standard length. (Thus, I unified the size approxi. mately, and avoided the error caused by a difference in their size.) As the frequency distribution of these values could be regarded as nearly normal type (see Fig. 1), I computed the rejection limit for each item under 5 per cent level of signlificance, to indicate the thresholds of their variation. If these limit separated from each other perfectly, I regarded them as distinct species morphometrically. According to the above mentioned standpoint, the types A, B, C, E and first group of F are separated clearly, as illustrated in Fig. 2. (Here, type F was divided into two different groups by the measured value, for instance, that of rostrum as I showed in this figure.) But the types B, C and second group of F overlapped each other in variation, and I cannot assert the distinctness of these groups in the natures dealt with in Fig. 2. While, in Fig. 3, the separation is perfect between the second group of F and the types B, C. Therefore, it may be concluded that the groups of type A, B, C, E, F (I): and F (II) respectively are distinct ones, not only from their pectorals pattern, but also from the morpho. metrical data. Type D is excluded from the present treatment, because it is quite a rare species, and is not important economically.
    Next, I examined the relation between the above mentioned groups and the species hitherto described. And obtained the following result: namely, type A group correspond to L. japonica, type B group to L. guentheri, C to L. kishinouyei, D to L. punctopectoralis, E to L. microptera, F (I) to L. alata, and F (II) to L. abyssalis.
    When we identify the samples, though the method is somewhat troublesome, it is possible to do it by the measured values of several parts of body using Fig. 2 and 3, which were made for every section of the size of the fish, as a chart for the key of species. On the other hand, the patterns of the innerside of pectorals are available as a guide for species, and these patterns can be recognize in the individuals of smaller size, even in 50mm length. According to the latter method, it is rather difficult to divide the two groups of type F. However, one group of type F, L. alata, can be easily and unrnistakablly distingushed from the other group of L. abyssalis, by its large triangular rostral process. The latter method of identification can be made by inspection irrespective of the size of fish.

    Redwing gurnard was stored at a low temperature, and studied for its characteristics as the raw material of fish jelly products. The following results were obtained.
    Gel-forming ability of the fish decreased rapidly to about 50% of original value after 5 days of iced storage. The allowable iced storage period of the fish as the material for fish jelly products was about one week.
    Gel-forming abilities of the fish by three kinds of storage conditions were arrenged in the following order: quick freezing, storage at -50°C> slow freezing, storage at -50°C> quick freezing, storage at -25°C> slow freezing, storage at -25°C. The allowable storage periods of the fish as the raw material for fish jelly products were about 5, 4 , 4 , and 1 month, respectively, in above order.
    The gel-forming ability correlated significantly with total myofibrillar Ca-ATPase activity and the solubility of myofibrils both in iced and frozen stored fish.

    The annual life cycle and distribution of adult Lepidotrigla microptera were studied in the Mutsu Bay, Aomori Prefecture. The seasonal changes in gonadosomatic index, hepatosomatic index, condition factor, and stomach contents index of samples obtained by experimental bottom trawls from March 1986 to July 1988 indicated that the annual life cycle of adult L.microptera was divided into the following four periods; wintering period (December-March), preparatory period for spawning (April-May), spawning period (June-August), and preparatory period for wintering (September-November). The habitat of L. microptera in this study area was not confirmed. However, at least a part of them were concentrated in relatively warm waters (6-9°C), i.e. the mouth of the bay in winter. In spring, most of them moved to the western part of the bay (West Bay) with rising bottom water temperature. In summer their habitat spread over the bay, and the fish concentrated toward the mouth of the bay in autumn.
    The annual life cycle and the space utilization pattern of adult L. microptera are thus associated greatly with seasonal changes in the bottom temperature.

    類について,曳網ごとの選択性から推定した平均的な網目選択性と全曳網データを合算して求めた網目選択性の50%選択全長(L50)と選択性レンジに大きな違いは無かった。未利用サイズを示唆する両種の選別時のL50は網目選択性のそれらに比べて61-91 mm大きかった。

    By analysing the catch of the trawl fishery (1932-1943) in the Chinese Seas, east of 130° E. Longitude, it was found that the rate of decreasing of the catch per havl has been relieved, in the later years, by the decreased number of hauls; the catch in 1940 seemed appropriate for the area concerned.

    The author has examined the vertebral length curves (VLC) of one hundred species of teleosts, mainly perciform fishes, and got the following results:
    1) It seems that the fishes examined at present have their own type of VLC respectively, so VLC may be useful for the systematic study of fishes.
    2) VLC of fishes vary gradually according to the progress of body growth, but in some fishes such as mackerels, dorados, etc., they are unvarying.
    3) VLC of fishes may be divided into three main groups, the premodal, the postmodal and the bimodal being supposed to have close systematic relations each other.
    4) VLC of bottom fishes are generally steeper than those of surface fishes.

    We have examined the power of poison of spoiled fish by the hypodermic injection of saline water extractive of it into the mice:
    Each extractive of both white muscle fish and reddish muscle fish has been found to be able to kill any mouse, but its efficacy seemed to decrease by the cooking or in the further progress of putrefaction. The cooked extractive of reddish muscle fish has been indicated to be harmful, but only at higher concentrations.

    Three types of fishing gears have been used in offshore trawl fisheries around Choshi for the years of 1971-1978, and each of them has its own proper features in net-construction and net-figure in operation.
    The authors estimated which type of fishing gear is more effective in catching a certain kind of fish, from the relation between the fishing ability and characteristics of each type of fishing gear.
    The results suggested that; Japanese type otter trawler is most efficient for Paralichthys olivaceus, Limanda herzensteini, and Kareius bicoloratus because catching effect of trawl-board and slow towing speed is excellent for them. Stern trawler is most efficient for squids because its net mouth is high and its towing speed is fast. Danish seine is most effcient for octopus, prawn and lobster because of catching effect of long sweep-line, the height of net-mouth and slow towing speed for them.

    Lipidotrigla spiloptera Güntherとして報告された.しかし, 吻突起の外縁が丸いこと, および胸鰭内面に白色点のないことから, 明らかにL.spilopteraと別種であることが判明したので, 土佐湾・駿河湾および東シナ海より採集した27個体にもとづき, Lepidotrigla longifaciata, sp.nov.として記載した.

    Sea routes were buried with large amount of sand transported by Typhoon No.0423. The dredged sand for recovering the routes were dumped into the sea in order to develop rich fisheries. Surveys of bottom sediment, benthic creature, fishing, bathymetry etc. were conducted in this study. From the results, it is found that any negative impacts caused by dredged sand dumping have not been observed, and that the study area becomes a rich habitat for marine resources.

    表層魚及び底棲魚各 5 種の普通肉中の水溶性タンパク質を硫安分画し,セリンプロテアーゼ(S)とシステインプロテアーゼ(C)に対する阻害を調べた結果,S 阻害活性が全魚種の 50-60% 飽和画分に認められ,同画分には C 阻害活性が 6 魚種に認められた。この画分を S と C の活性のあるスケトウダラ冷凍すり身に添加し,40℃ での戻り及びタンパク質の分解に対する抑制効果を検討した結果,マエソ以外の魚種では戻り及びミオシン重鎖の分解を抑制し,その効果は表層魚より底棲魚の方に強い傾向があり,特に,カナド及びトゲ
