    Plasma polymerization by using a pulsed rf discharge was performed for preparation of ultra thin organic film. The discharge capacitively coupled was initiated in a box-type reactor at an uniform flow of an acetylene/argon mixture gas. 2-10 nm scale ultra thin hydrocarbon film was deposited on a silicon wafer. The surface topography of the film examined by AFM appears to be pinhole free. The distribution of thickness measured by an elipsometer suggested the reaction in gas phase is significant. Therefore, the theoretical calculation was performed by using a model of radical reaction in the gas phase, and the obtained equations were fitted well to the results of experiments.

    We have prepared colloidal noble metals (Ag, Au, Pt) by photoreduction of metal ions in solutions and examined their optical properties on the basis of Mie theory. Tractable expressions for the extinction coefficient, Kext, scattering coefficient, Ksca, absorption coefficient, Kabs, have been introduced by expanding the denominator and numerator of Mie coefficients respectively in power series of a size parameter and assembling them. General features of calculated extinction spectra appear to be in nice accordance with the observed ones ; extinction maxima located at λ≅410 nm (Ag) and 540 nm (Au), and even optical density almost coincided each other in colloidal gold and platinum. It has been confirmed that our method is also useful to estimate the optical properties of colloidal semiconductor (AgCl) and insulator (SiO2) in water. The present method seems to be superior to the conventional van de Hulst's equation because of its applicability to the colloidal system whose size parameter is larger than 0.6. Preparation, of complex colloids such as Ag/Au, Au/Pt, Ag/Pt and Metal/SiO2 was attempted and their optical properties were examined by introducing an effective medium theory to estimate the optical constants of composite materials.

    This paper describes an application of thermography to determine surface temperature of liquid which is moving along a heated wall surface. Breakdown of a thin liquid film is known to cause a problem in the heat transfer surface leading to a serious burnout phenomenon. To develop a technique to prevent the burnout phenomena, the mechanism of the burnout needs to be understand. Thus, we measured transient surface temperature of a thin liquid film using a thermography. Emissivity and absorption coefficients of water, a silicon oil and 1-propanol were determined by comparing its thermocouple measurement. As a result:(1) emissivity of water, a silicon oil and 1-propanol was approximately 0.95 and (2) transient temperature profiles on a liquid surface of wavy flow were obtained.

    Aiming at manufacturing of filler metal for overlay welding, generally, produced in small quantity and various grades, by means of powder rolling a trial making of powder rolling equipment and an investigation of manufacturing conditions were made.
    A new powder feeding method for keeping compacting rate constant was investigated.
    Using relationship among density and thickness of green strip, rolling load and initial load (or initial roll gap), a controlling method for compacting a green strip of appointed characteristic could be obtained.
    After welding test it was confirmed that a strip produced with only compaction and sintering was possible to be used as filler metal.

    In this report accuracy of length measurement relating to the mechanical contact between spherical surface of feeler and the test piece is discussed.
    In order to make clear these relations, displacement of a lapped disc tracing on the specimen is recorded by a roughness meter. And one more factor "reducing factor" is added to the profile factor suggested in the previous paper. The reducing factor means a ratio of the maximum height of the recorded envelope curve to the maximum height of the surface roughness. Introducing the reducing factor, reasonable length and distribution of the measured values can be known when measuring force and radius of curvature of the feeler and material of the test specimen are given.
    And further the authors suggest that the radius of curvature of the spherical surface of skid used for recording envelope curve of the surface is more than about four thousands times the maximum height of surface roughness.

    背景]1996年に心療内科を標榜して以来,筆者の院所では自我違和的な生活様式のリスクに晒されている患者が次第に増えてきた.多くの患者の自己評価は低く,さらには自己の存在価値の感覚を喪失している者までみられた.1997年にドイツのバート・ウェーリスホーフェンでのクナイプ療法セミナーに参加して感銘を受けた筆者は,自己訓練を開始し,後に集団的な手法を開発した.それはホリスティックでマインドフルネスな集団水中有酸素運動であり,2000年に水氣道と命名した.[目的]この報告の目的は,ストレスフルな生活習慣をもつ患者に対して水氣道をどのように適応したかということであり,また,そうした患者たちが水氣道によって育成された対人関係性についての主観的経験を記述することを目的とする.[方法]毎回の水氣道の稽古(60ないし90分)では,訓練プールで様々な歩行様式(形)を行う.対番制度(上位および下位の対番)はプールの水,室内の空気や仲間意識によって育まれることによって,次第に基本的な組織構造(段級制)および機能(自助,互助および協働)が整備されていく.[結果]現在の継続参加会員数は75名(男37名,女38名).年齢は平均51.9±16.7歳(18~83歳まで):男性49.1±16.4(25~83歳),女性51.2±17.5(18~80歳);身長は男性平均170.0±7.6cm,女性平均156.4±8.0cm;体重は男性平均70.6±16.8kg,女性平均51.1±9.1kg;BMIは男性平均24.4±5.3kg/m2,女性平均20.7±1.9kg/m2だった.疾患構成は線維筋痛症,広場恐怖を伴うパニック障害が各25%,関節リウマチ,うつ病・抑うつ状態が各16%,その他のストレス誘発性の身体疾患が18%だった.主観的経験のうち最も多く報告を受けたのが,孤独感・孤立感や人生の目的喪失感からの解放で55%だった.長期にわたって続いていた否定的な母子関係が消失したとの報告が15%あった.また水氣道と稽古での水は自分たちが求めてやまない母胎内の暖かさと安全感を連想させるという会員が4%ながら存在した.[結論]水氣道は参加者各人が抱える根深い問題の解決のための多層性の組織体であり,その独創的な対番制度により創造し再構築する人間関係を通して得られる知識や技術の多数かつ多様で協働的な諸資源を活用する.水氣道は集団力動と水自体の運動慣性を利用できるので限定的な身体的・精神的強度のみで足りる.水氣道はまた参加者に対して周囲の環境との関係性を正常化する媒体を提供する.水氣道は人間関係を損ねた患者にとっての一定の治癒過程を促進するのではないかと考えられる.

    The behaviour of ethylxanthate ion, EX-was studied by means of polarographic and spectroscopic methods. By employing polarographic method, the composition of a complexion between EX-and Cd2+ in the presence of an excess of EX-was found to be Cd (EX) 2-4 and overall-stability constant, β4 to be 4 × 1011.
    From spectroscopic method, the formation of 1 : 1 complex ions, M (EX) +, (M2+ : Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn, Ni, Co) was confirmed and the effects of these complex ions on the acid decomposition of KEX and on the solubility of M (EX) 2 were discussed.
    A few explanation was done on the mechanism of collection of sulfide minerals taking into consideration of these complex-formation.

    With the view to study the properties of the organic dithiophosphates and their related compounds as mining chemicals, dithiophosphates (Aerofloats), monothiophosphates and phosphates were chosen.
    The solubilities of metal salts in various solvents, the oxidation reaction of those reagents, the complexformation reactions, the molecular-association in benzene solution and the contact angle on minerals in aqueous solutions were examined and the differences between those three reagents could be interpreted by the soft-hard Lewis acid-base theory.
    From the results of the contact angle measurement it was found that the monothiophosphate ion might have a good selective property as presented by the American Cyanamid Co.

    This paper proposes a computer-supported collaborative learning environment to enhance knowledge creation, store and transfer in power system education. Recently power systems have become more complex than before. This situation has become more noticeable year by year, and there is a strong need to develop an educational system which is useful for novice engineers. A number of research on CAI (Computer-Assisted Instruction system) has been done to overcome the problem. A central concern of the research is to make computer more intelligent by applying Artificial Intelligence technology, such as knowledge representation, student modeling, etc. On the other hand our research focuses on collaboration of engineers as an important activity in learning process, and provides a collaborative learning environment to enhance knowledge creation, store and transfer in cooperation with other engineers. In terms of computer system the proposed system is a learning environment based on a personal visual simulator which has a function to support collaborative work with other engineers through computer network.
    In this paper, first the significance of this research is made clear in comparison with research on CAI and CSCW (Computer-Supported Cooperative Work). Secondly, the features of the system, basic function, architecture of window sharing and data structures are explained in detail. Finally, the effectiveness of the system is discussed by using an example of power system, and results of simple evaluation are shown.

    A review is presented of the IAEA-IWGFR Specialists' Meeting on the "Development and Application of Absorber Materials for Fast Reactors" which was held at Dimitrovgrad, USSR, June 4-8, 1973. At the meeting, attention was given mainly to the choice of absorbing materials for the control elements of fast reactors, to the design of absorbing rods and tests of their performance.
    About two thirds of the sessions were devoted to the oldest established and the most promising absorber-B4C. The pre-irradiation properties of B4C are considered to be fairly thoroughly known already. Good agreement has been seen on the results of compatibility studies. On the other hand, the irradiation behavior of B4C-specially swelling and He release-stimulated brisk discussion among the participants in respect of the appreciable discrepancy discerned in the results obtained so far and the possible explanations given therefore. Development of the vented control rod is being actively undertaken in most of the countries.
    Tantalum and Eu2O3 attracted attention as promissing alternatives to B4C. There arises problems, however, on the compatibility of these two materials in the presence of Na. Another difficulty foreseen in the use of Ta rods is cooling during reactor shut-off. For Eu2O3, phase stability should be an important problem for future study.
