Effects of electrostatic force on boundary surfaces between the liquid and the vapor in pool boiling has beeninvestigated experimentall)1. An electrode design was considered so as to remove vapor bubbles from a heat transfersurface using the electrostatic force. Our apProach is based on the apPlication of electric field gradient for the boundarysurfaces. A micro scaled electrode was designed to create an electric field gradient with low applied voltage. As a result, the electrostatic force made the vapor bubble force to move to low electric field side, and the liquid fill in the spacebetween the boiling surface and electrode. In addition, the heat flux was improved by thin liquid film formed by KelvinHelmholtz instability.
