On July 18, 2019 the new Law on Tourism (ЗРУ-549) was enacted in the Republic of Uzbekistan and came into force on October 20of the same year. Until then the Uzbekistan “Law on Tourism” (830-I), enacted on August 20, 1999, was considered as the basic law on tourism.
Comparing these two laws, which have the same title, this paper clears up the distinction of the meanings of “Tourism” between the two and the significance of the new “Law on tourism”. Obviously, there are some other countries where tourism laws were also revised in accordance with changes in tourism policy in response to reforms in political, economic and social conditions. Research on Tourism in Uzbekistan has recently begun both domestically and abroad, however, the change of leadership in 2016 marked a rapid growth in the development of tourism. In this regard, analyzing the recent significant legal changes in Uzbekistan, which are closely related to the future of Silk Road Tourism, assumes a critical importance.
