On February 16, 1973, the author had a chance to examine some specimens of Princeps demoleus collected by Mrs. Faustino at Mansalay, a small village in southeast Mindoro Island, the Philippines. According to Hiura (1973) this species was also collected by Mr. Honda in July, 1971, in Mindoro. The author has also recorded this species in the present paper from Zamboanga City, Mindanao Island. This butterfly was flying from flower to flower at Pasonanca Park of the city on February 13, 1972. Ae (1970) already reported the species from Mindanao Island, but he did not describe the detail of the collecting place in the island. Hiura (1973) recorded the butterfly from Bugusuk and Balabac Islands based on the collection of Mr. Honda inJuly, 1971. Thus, Princeps demolens has been recorded in Luzon, Mindoro. Palawan, Bugusuk, Balabac, Leyte, Cebu, Negros and Mindanao Islands, but the present author has not seen any record of the butterfly from Masbate, Panay, Samar and Bohol Islands. He has shown a distirbution map of P. demoleus libanius Fruhstorfer in the Philippines in fig. I, except the records of Negros and Mindanao reported by Ae (1970), because his collecting places in these islands were not recorded. A distribution map of this butterfly in East Asia is shown in fig. 2, which is modified after Shirozu (1960). The author has an interest when Princeps demoleus will invade Borneo Island through the Philippine Archipelago. There are two possible courses for this butterfly to invade Borneo; one is the course of Zamboanga-Sulu-Borneo, and the other Palawan-Bugusuk-Balabac-Borneo.
