Spectral directional reflectance, transmittance and emittance of close-packed structure self-assembled with silica micro-spheres are investigated. The close-packed structures of silica micro-spheres are fabricated self-assembly over a large area. Spectral directional reflectance, transmittance and emittance are measured by using an FT IR spectrometer. The reflectance is enhanced by Bragg diffraction at certain wavelength, and inversely transmittance is decreased at same wavelength. The thermal emission from the close-packed structure of silica micro-spheres is inhibited at Bragg diffraction wavelength. The Bragg diffraction wavelength shifts as a function of incident angle, and can be estimated by a modified Bragg's law taking into account Snell's law of refraction. Furthermore, the diffuse reflection of close-packed structure of silica micro-spheres is measured. The diffuse reflection is obtained at the shorter wavelength than the Bragg diffraction wavelength.
