This study presents empirical research investigating disaster subculture through mutual comparison of Okinawa, Kagoshima, and Tokyo. Results of resident questionnaire surveys reveal many differences among these three areas. Above all, more than 50% of Okinawan people think about typhoons but can not accept them. Furthermore, they havetheir own knowledge, judgement criteria, and disaster subcultures corresponding to typhoons.
