The introduction of imported cash registers began in 1897 in Japan. But they didn't spread in Japan because those were very expensive and the Japanese wasn't experienced in key operation. Itoki Shoten itself developed and sold a Japanese -made simple cash register matched to Japanese commercial custom in 1913. This became the representative hot seller of ITOKI. This cash register called “Zeni-ai-ki” was such a long lived product that it was still use 50 years after its release. This paper describes the history and mechanism on “Zeni-ai-ki”
