As to the study on kinship in an urban, industrial society, the variable of social class has been neglected, not disregarded, in our country. This study puts an emphasis upon social class and deals with the issue of the family structure compatible to the industrialization of a society. The study with an orientation of theory construction follows the analytical scheme in which the family business class and the subclass within it are independent variables to the family structure, a dependent variable. Also taken into consideration are tow explanatory variables, the amount of demands of labor migration and the efficiency of capital accumulation.
Through logical inductions, some hypotheses could be presented and the principal hypothesis among them is as follows. The probability of stem family actually realized is likely to be determined by, at least, the economic subclass within the family business class, and is curvilinear relationship in order of increasing middle, upper, and lower subclasses.
