This thesis is a study of the changes in the performing style of minyou singers in post WWII Okinawa, through an analysis of three minyou singers (Seijin Noborikawa, Sadao China, Syuken Maekawa). It examines their life history and musical activities, internal and external influences on popular music history in Okinawa and two activities and thinking of minyou singers in Okinawa. As to internal influences, three minyou singers regard very highly the inheritance of the style of musical activities. Most minyou singers in Okinawa emphasize developing their own skill between times and leaders. Moreover, as to external influences, Seijin Noborikawa has been active under the leadership of a producer from the Japanese mainland. Sadao China has been active comprehensively as a singer, songwriter and producer. Syuken Maekawa has only influenced people of Okinawan ancestry.

現在，唄者は沖縄民謡の担い手として，テレビ，ラジオ，レコードなどのメディアやフェスティバルやイベントなどの出演，民謡酒場での演奏など多岐にわたる活動をし，人々から高い支持を得ている。しかし，唄者の歴史を沖縄戦前後まで遡ると，現在の唄者のイメージや役割と大きく異なり，世間一般的に高い評価を得るような存在ではなかった。唄者のイメージは時代を下ることにプラスになり，それに伴い唄者の役割も変化していった。 　本論文では，1945年から2000年代における民謡クラブと民謡酒場の専属唄者の活動を通して，第一に唄者に対するイメージの変化，第二に唄者の役割の変化を明らかにすることを目的としている。

　本論文では、沖縄の民謡クラブ（復帰前）と民謡酒場（復帰後）のコミュニティに注目し、両者のコミュニティがどのように変化してきたのか、そのプロセスを明らかにする。一般的に、現在の民謡酒場は観光芸術の文脈で語られ、観光客が期待する「沖縄らしさ」を演出したものになっている。しかし、民謡酒場の歴史を辿ると1960年代に民謡酒場の前身である民謡クラブから始まり、そこでは、地元の演奏者と客の相互コミュニケーションを通した強いコミュニティが形成されていた。民謡クラブには、観光芸術とは無縁の空間が広がっていた。だが、1972年に沖縄が本土復帰を果たすと、沖縄には、観光客が訪れるようになったことで、民謡クラブの客層が徐々に地元民から観光客に移り、それに伴いながら民謡クラブのシステム、音楽、環境なども変化していった。
　復帰前の民謡酒場が、「演奏者―客」の連帯感が強い相互コミュニケーションがあったコミュニティに対し、復帰後は、「演奏者―客」の連帯感が弱いコミュニティーになった。それは客層の変化も大きく関係しているが、それ以外にもコミュニティの紐帯を強固にしたり、緩めたりする要素が含まれている。コミュニティの形成には、人と人の関係性だけでなく、モノと人の関係性も重要であり、ANT の視点も入れながら、本論文では、復帰前後のコミュニティの変化のプロセスを明らかにする。

This paper describes how the relationship between female Okinawan folk singers and Okinawan folk songs changed from the 1940’s to the 1970’s through their local performance spaces. The musical activities of today’s female folk singers cover a wide range, from participation in events and media to live performances at folk song bars. Today, the activities of these female folk singers are naturally accepted, but looking back on their history, the relationship between female folk singers and Okinawan folk songs has changed greatly. The author interviews Okinawan folk singers born in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s and examines how the relationship between female folk singers and Okinawan folk songs has changed.
