Hieizan-Enryakuji has played an important role in Japanese Buddhism. While there were once many temples and monks’ houses in the mountainous forests. But now, most of them are abandoned or moved. To unveil the location of temples and monks’ houses, Ultra-Fine Lidar data - average point density is about 7,000 points per square meter, was used for the detection of them focusing of Earth Mound and Foundation Stone. We could confirm that Ultra-Fine topographic roughness map and Ultra-fine ground surface roughness map could be the useful tools for the detection of them.

This report is a part of studies on Space Organization of Hieizan-Enryakuji Temple Area located in the hillside area of Kyoto.
In the first report, analysis for phenomenal systems which appears at space organization in Hieizan Enryakuji Temple area was discussed with natural systems, physical systems and visual systems. And moreover, the study was progressed to find out the systems in overlapping elements of phenomenal and cognitive systems of them. This intended to eliminate the peculiality of physical systems as the process of structurization of urban and regional open spaces to lead the foundamental consideration which menas the principle of space organization element in urban and regional open space planning. If the principle of space organization element for open space design is considered as the tool to find out the discovery of unity for space design which will be to exist, the foundamental element of space organization has to satisfy the requirement of unity in here does not mean congregation which space organization element gathers not only individually but also interdependentlly with mutual complemental bonds. The study must be considered to arrange and remodel the order of element in space organization as interdependence between natural systems, physical systems and visual systems should beintended to create more humanized space through the research of human behavior.
In the second report, the relationship between out-door space and human was discussed from aspect of visual characteristic of human behavior. The organization of out-door space is to arrange the physical environmental element in organic relation. And it is very important that out-door space should be planned and designed through interdependence with human behavior which control it. Analysis for visual characteristic of space organization was discussed with making the visual zone map based on sequencial experience of out-door space according to movement of observers.
The change of view through approaches for visual object and it's variation was checked at first, then discussed the process of space organization from the cognition of foundamental visual pattern.
In the third report12, visual zone map as projected model of pattern was replaced to visual volume of the objects was searched for interde pendence between recognition distance. Moreover, it was tried to formulate as mathematical model.
In this report, visual volume of the object and recognition distance was corresponded and was discussed about meaning of coefficient of each visual object.
    1) Foundamental cognition for recognition distance Generally, there are many factors to recognize the object. In this study, size f object, form of object, condition which is the object located, texture of the object, personal differenciation for appearance of the object, field of vision and discrimination were chosen as the major factor.
    2) Visual object and recognition distance Recognition distance was discussed with interdependence between foundamenta 1 element of space organization and human.
    3) The spatial meaning to recognition coefficience of visual object
Recognition distance-visual volume of the object and discrimination of visual object was corresponded and the spatial meaning to appearance of object was discussed with appearance coefficience.

Hongan-ji Branch in the Shin sect borrowed Syomo of Tendai sect positively since the middle of the Edo period, and now uses above seventy strains of Syomyo of Tendai sect, and so Syomyo of Tendai occupies almost all of the memorial service in Hongan-ji Branch.
The Jodo sect, the Nichiren sect, the Bukko-ji Branch in the Shin sect, and so on attempt to make their memorial services solemn attaching them before or after the unique order of their 'Regular chanting of sutras, .
In comparison with this, Hongan-ji Branch is more closely connected with Tendai.
Since Meiji 16 (1883) Hongan-ji Branch has ceased a connection with Tendai sect, and Syomyo of Tendai sect and the one of Hongan-ji Branch have originally developed for this one hundred years. Therefore, now there have been great differences between their musical atmosphere.
This MS. is the comparative study of a melodious point in Syomyo of Tendai sect and the one of Hongan-ji Branch at the present time, so I intend to express the differerence between them in comparing their style of melody, considering the fact that syomyo of Tendai sect consists of the combination of melodic style.
    (1) The type in the same singing. These are the same singing in both of them.
    (2) The type in the same singing but the different title.
    (3) The type in the different singing. Both singings are much alike, but there are a little diffrent singings.
    (4) The type which have a difference of ornaments. Though both styles of melody in itself are the same, their musical atmosphere are different on account of the existence of ornaments.
    (5) The type which both styles of melody in itself are different. Originally, I suppose, they are the same singing, but now they both changed and differed either of Tendai and Hongan-ji.
    (6) The type which are the same title but the different singings.
    (7) The type not used in the Hongan-ji Branch
As above I classified, and what brings the difference between Syomyo of Tendai sect and the one of Hongan-ji Branch is the difference of ornaments.
Comparing the two, a lot of old singings remained in the Hongan-ji Branch.

This paper discusses the morphological tendency of mountain monasteries at Hieizan-Enryakuji in the mid- and late Tokugawa period by surveying historical records archived in Eizan Library. A comparative verification of 18 monasteries reveals the existence of certain typologies in layouts and roof shapes, such that most monasteries had three-beam-span frontage layouts covered by gabled or hipped roofs with an additional stepped roof, or shikoro, along the perimeter of the main building. The paper also describes the typology’s relationship with the Kanbun 8 regulation. The knowledge derived is expected to elucidate the situation of the mountain-dwelling religious community in that period.

In nara period, the great and main temples and monasteries had clustered in and around the capital on the plain. But at the outset of the ninth century the rise of the new sects of Tendai and shingon, was accompanied by a marked change in the character of newfounded religious establishments, And the introducers of the new sects, in establishing their headquarters instead on the secluded mountain tops of Hieizan and Koyasan, seems to have been motived at least in part by a spirit of ascetic reform. On the Mt. Hiei, the territory occupied by Enryakuji is so irregular that any formal combination at large scale is impossible. And Enryakuji is divided in three part, Toto, Saito and Yokokawa. The lecture hall we mention here is situated in Toto. We survey the evolution of this lecture hall by documents and the excavation on this site. i. The survey by old documents. The documents tell that the lecture hall has been ten times burnt and rebuilt. The first building was founded before the middle of 9C, and its plan type was 5Ken 4men which means that the chancel was 5 bays long, and that there were aisles on four sides. But that building was burnt down in 966 and was rebuilt in 971. Thence the hall was enlarged 7Ken 4Men. Afterward, in 1285 the lecture hall had the attached fore hall indicated by the term Raido, "Hall for worship". This plan-type was followed by the building in the "Kanei period". ii. The survey of the excavation. By the excavation in July-August 1961, we found only three layers of newer foundation. We conjecture that three layers will show that the Building III belongs to Kanei period, Building II to Tenmon period and Building I to Oei period. We have ascertained it by strateography and construction of foundation that the table land and the surface of older basement was perhaps several times cut off by the enlargement of building plan, so trace of the building before Kamakura period is left. The foundation of Kanei period was so carefully and rigidly constructed that it was quite suitable to support the heavy two-storeyed building.

This study seeks to examine, through the analysis of historical materials, the reconstruction process of the SHIGA-IN temple built during the Meiji period, after being burned down in 1877. This study used historical materials from the Eizanbunko Library.

The paper is organized as follows:

     1. “A restoration figure” that sheds light on the precincts’ composition in the Meiji-period, modern era.

     2. It was followed by the temple’s functions and precincts’ composition in Edo-period, early modern era.

     3. According to the outline of the reconstruction process, “Nikai-syoin” was relocated from SEIKAN-IN temple, “Oku-noma” from GOKURAKUBO temple, “Omote-noma” from HOUMAN-IN temple, “Daidokoro” from KEISOKU-IN temple, and “Butsuden” from ZIGENDO temple.

     4. All of the historical buildings are arranged skillfully, especially considering the fact that the difference of altitude in the precincts is marked by “Ishigaki, ” that is, stone high wall. The others include change of direction and three-dimensional arrangement of the historical buildings in a small precinct.

     5. The historical buildings in the Meiji-period still exist.

     6. A new function for the utilization of the minimum remodeling process was added.
