    "The enclosure of the mind" denotes a trend in the western thought history. It is a combined operation; how, where and in what the mind has been enclosed. Where is the place of the mind? -Our scientific common sense teaches us that it is in the individual brain. This represents a completed feature of "the enclosure of the mind". The opposite idea is the panpsychism, though, it would certainly be felt somewhat "fishy". Under this view, mechanisms such as communications from mind to mind should be natural, which would appear more doubtful. -This "fishiness" is an effect of "the enclosure of the mind" in the modern ages. There has been, however, no successful scientific proof of the "scientific common sense", yet. In a word, this is an opinion that the Zeitgeist has constructed, and the trustworthy appearance derives from the fact that it reflects the ground note of the modern world. In this article, this phenomenon is analyzed from three dimensions: <area system>, <human system>, and <spirit/material system>. They are in the thought history to form "Modern ages of the mind". Intertwined in the meanings, they are logically independent. These factors have produced an apparently bold new phenomenon. But, it can be analyzed as a revival of the traditional human-centrism and the rationalism that characterize the history of the West European thought.

    Where is the ontological location of an intrinsical quality which is felt without mediation? In this paper, we examine the possibility of regarding this quality as an intermediate and indefinable reality which cannot be subsumed under our ordinary concept of consciousness nor under material function. And we attempt this through an examination of the concept of "experience" proposed by William James. The reason why this quality has no concrete position in a materialistic framework is found in our cognitive premise which is objective from the beginning. On the other hand, as in the case of "experience", we are compelled to regard this quality as something ineffable and too near to grasp. Because this quality is neither objectiue nor subjective.
    Thus, this quality is essentially not attained without our becoming identical with it. Concerning this, some insist that the essence of subjectivity necessarily continues to slip out from external grasping or that the essence of mind is closured from our native cognitive abilities. Thus they regard this reality as something beyond objective understanding but having a certain status of its own. And this apparently contradictory peculiarity is ultimately not refutable.
    The existence of will or meaning can also be deduced from the reality of this fundamental quality. Moreover, the ground of this reality is to be found in the ontological right of subjective directness which can only be grasped from within. And this directness justi-fies itself in the fact that the cause of it is not to be sought out. On the contrary, we are to inguire the fur ther cavse of an objective reality, whenever we think we have arrived at the core of the reality. But we can avoid this difficulty by regarding reality as something not objective and in definable.

    多元的リアリティ論は、A. Schutz以来社会学における重要な一課題となっている。だが、これまでの多元的リアリティ論においては、各リアリティ間の構造的連関や動態が論じられることは比較的少なかったように思われる。
    本稿では、リアリティの多元性を生むと思われる要因を三つ挙げ、その内の一つの意識状態の多様性に基く多元的リアリティの動態論を導く事を課題とする。三要因を分節したのは、これまでの多くの議論ではリアリティの多元性に関する異なった観点を同時に取り挙げてモデル構成していたので、各リアリティを系統的に抽出し得なかったのではないかと考えるからである。そして、この各リアリティを構成する為に、人間の精神発達過程 (特にピアジェとエリクソンの発達心理学) に着眼し、その発達段階から各リアリティを導く事を試みる。このようにして構成された各リアリティ間には、二つの軸による構造的連関が指摘できる。この連関に基き、動態的な多元的リアリティの一モデルを提出したい。

    The concept of meaning seems to be diminished in recent trends of TEFL in Japan. The diminishment is buttressed by the combination of objectivist semantics, objective tests, neo-liberalism and one-dimensional objectivism. Against the diminishment, this paper offers a new concept of meaning by introducing Integrated Information Theory by Tononi in neuroscience and supplementing it with the theory of meaning by Luhmann in theoretical sociology. In a sharp contract with objectivist semantics that regards meaning as an objectively describable, static, and determinate object, the new concept states that meaning is (1) a subjective experience on an objective physical mechanism; (2) experienced in unification of determinacy of actuality and indeterminacy of potentiality; and (3) a dynamic process. The paper also offers some practical implications.

    William James's concept “stream of thought” has mainly two backgrounds to build up its original style. The first is the difference between material state and inner state of vital phenomena, and the second is the impossibility to associate plural ideas without transcendental subject.
    The first is influenced by an issue in the theory of evolution. That is a question, on which point in evolution the inner state of life has emerged. This is the principal impossibility which is contrary to the emergence of vital phenomena as material body. For this problem James reexamines “mind-stuff theory”, and he approves its one aspect which assumes inner state from the beginning of evolution, but rejects its another aspect which affirms association.
    The problem of the latter aspect has something to do with the second background. To overcome this problem, James attained to “stream” after examining “several another hypotheses”.

    The author has recently proposed the new philosophical paradigm and world view named "the dialectics of New Paradigm" by Kaseyama, and has made clear that it has given a philosophical foundation to the newly developed scintific-philosophical understanding of the near-death experience and the life-scientific research of dark matter. In this paper, from a viewpoint of Chishima's Philoso-Science which stated that the Philoso-Science unifying the views of philosophy and science should be a true learning, there is considered on the relationship between "the dialectics of New Paradigm" and the previous scientific theories, the various theories of new-science, especially Emoto's science-technology of HADO. In result, firstly it is found that "the dialectics of New Paradigm" is valid as a philosophical foundation not only of Bohr's and Heisenberg's quantum theory and Hawking's quantum-gravity theory but also of Inomata's triangle, Emoto's science-technology of HADO, Adadhi's undulation theory, Penrose's triangle and Handa's noos thory. Secondly, speaking on Emoto's science-technology of HADO, it is found that 1) all events of HADO are controlled by a view of YIN and YANG, 2) mind (=spirit) and body (=material) are interdependently relative, 3) these two points of 1) and 2) are closely linked with the dialectic axiom where all events are compossed of YIN and YANG and are relative and change, and with the dialecic monism of material-spirit where YIN and YANG are replaced respectively with spirit and material.

    In reviewing the researches on the developmental change in children's comprehension of television, the following two aspects are considered : comprehension or cognition of difference between "reality" and "television world" and comprehension of "television content" from the social cognitive; point of view. In the first half of the review the developmental change in comprehension of telvision world and reality in early childhood is emphasized. Some confusion of the concept of "reality" in the past researches is also pointed out. In the latter half of the review, comprehension of television content is reviewed in relation with "social cognition" theories and studies. Because the studies reviewed here have not produced the consistent results,either because of misapplication of the theories or the vagueness of the definition of the theories, it is necessary to develop more systematic knowledge and information concerning the developmental change of children's comprehension of television. More researches should be done in this area.

    要  旨 Tornstam(1989)は老年的超越が老年期後半に出現する心理的特性であることを指摘している。 本稿ではこの心理的特性が、母性社会と言われる我が国においてもそのまま当てはまるかどうかについて、自我やアニミズム・アニミズム心性との関係で論じた。その結果、文化的、歴史的に母性社会においては、アニミズムやアニミズム心性の傾向が強く、自我意識が抑制されることから、老年的超越は老年期後半よりもずっと以前の、発達のかなり早期から継続して認められる心理的特性であることが推測された。

    From the viewpoint of the Affordance Theory advocated by J. J. Gibson, an ecological approach for realizing artificial skills is presented in contrast to the conventional paradigm of behavior-based robots known as “sense, think and act”.A perception-driven robot demonstrates the usefulness of the ecological approach through the assembly task of mating several parts on a plane. Instead of action-rules based on sensory information, the proposed robot employs a kind of oscillator, Action Pattern Generator (APG), for taking active action before perception. The limitations of the simple robot, the actions of which are dominated by APG, are also discussed. Then, in order to compensate APG for lack of the rationality in choosing actions, two types of memories, namely Working Memory (WM) and Episodic Memory (EM), are introduced into the robot's brain. Consequently, the perception-driven robot has the abilities to distinguish the shapes of various parts, mount them in right places, and stop its motion automatically.

    From circa 1903 to 1930 there flourished a variety of alternative healing systems called "Reijutsu" (meaning "the technique of spirit") or "Seihin Ryoho" (literally meaning "psychotherapy"). In those systems healers used the power of "seishin" (mind) to cure the sick. Though those systems were derived from the mesmerism imported from America, the concept of mind and body in Japanese healing systems is different from that of the corresponding system in America. Adding to this, the usage of the term "seishin" is different from one healer to another, so the meaning of this word is not so easy to define. First, in this paper, he theory of a famous American mesmerist, John Bovee Dods, is discussed. His theory consists of the materialistic world view of electricity and the religious belief in the existence of the human soul and God. Then the monistic tendency of Japanese philosophy is discussed, using the example of a popular philosophy by Kuroiwa Shuroku. In Kuroiwa's theory, there is no space for substantial "soul." His theory resembles that of a healer, Kuwabara Toshiro, who stressed the supernatural power of "seishin," which was thought of as energy without personality. Kuwabara used only the power of will to cure the sick, without using the exercise of body. After Kuwabara, there appeared many healers, most of whom used the bodily techniques in practice but used the concept of "seishin" to explain supernormal healings. A reijutsu healer named Nagai Reiyo made a distinction between "seishin" and "seimei" (life). He thought "seishin" was egoistic and unstable, and following the stream of "seimei" without will is the best way of healing. So in the Japanese system of alternative healings, "seishin" is not something pre-existent, but a symbolical term to raise will-power. So when it became unnecessary to use this concept in healing, it was discarded for another term.
