Pharmacists belonging to the local pharmaceutical society advised patients with chronic hepatitis C (CHC) who visited their health insurance pharmacies. From March to June, 2017, a leaflet was used to recommend medical consultation and/or treatment to the patients. After this period, a questionnaire was sent to each pharmacy and replies were received from 73 of 156 pharmacies (46.8%), with 71 informative responses. A total of 32 copies of the leaflet was used for advice at 12 pharmacies and 16 patients (50%) received medical consultation and/or treatment in specialized institutions. These results indicate that pharmacists are respected as experts by patients and local inhabitants, and advice from the pharmacists regarding CHC is effective.
