In this study, land and regional policy in Japan and Korea were compared from the postwar reconstruction period to the present. As a result, land and regional policy in Japan and Korea were very similar from the postwar reconstruction period to the 1990s.
However, there is big difference in land and regional policy between Japan and Korea from the 2000s to the present. Since 2000, land and regional policy in Japan has been responsive to population declines, and the keynote has changed from development to sustainable national land and regional management. On the other hand, land and regional policy in Korea emphasize globalization and regional relocation of capital functions, and concrete movements are seen.
