    ) which contains β-MeOTyr (4). In order to synthesize four stereoisomer of β-MeOTyr (4), we attempted Evans anti or syn-Aldol reaction as a key step. Evans direct anti-aldol reaction with chiral benzyloxazolidinones (

    ) promoted by catalytic amounts of MgCl_2 in the presence of triethylamine and chlorotrimethylsilane. This proceder provide

    Amyloid β (Aβ) plays a key role in the pathology of Alzheimer’s disease (

    AD
    ) and is toxic owing to its ability to aggregate into oligomers and fibrils. Aβ has high aggregative ability and potent toxicity due to the “toxic turn” at positions
    22
    and 23. Furthermore, APP knock-in mice producing
    E
    22
    P-Aβ with the toxic turn exhibited
    AD
    -related phenotypes such as cognitive impairment, Aβ plaque accumulation, and tau hyperphosphorylation. In these mice, it is suggested that the activation of neuroinflammation and dysregulation of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) expression in the hippocampus contribute to the pathogenesis of
    AD
    -related phenotype. However, it remains unclear which cells are responsible for the dysregulation of HIF expression and the neuroinflammation which was induced by
    E
    22
    P-Aβ with the toxic turn. Here, we investigated the effects of chronic treatment with
    E
    22
    P-Aβ42 and lipopolysaccharides (LPS) on the inflammatory response in BV-2 microglia. Chronic treatment with
    E
    22
    P-Aβ42 and LPS increased nitric oxide production and the expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6), whereas it reduced the expression of HIF-1α and HIF-
    3
    α in BV-2 microglia. The reduction of HIF-1α caused by
    E
    22
    P-Aβ42 and LPS was milder than that caused by LPS. Furthermore, chronic treatment with
    E
    22
    P-Aβ42 and LPS increased the nuclear translocation of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-κB).

    P-Aβ42 could enhance the inflammatory response of microglia with abnormal HIF signaling and contribute to the progression of

    Coronary arteries of 215 autopsied hearts with myocardial infarction (MI), were macroscopically examined by multiple cross sections, for sclerotic narrowing and thrombotic occlusion. Grade of the narrowing was estimated by scores i.

    for 50%, 4 for 75% and 5 for complete occlusion. Entire epicardial course of the coronary arteries consisted of right coronary artery (R), left stem (LS), anterior descending artery (

    BACKGROUND

    Atopic dermatitis (

    AD
    ) and allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) are both forms of eczema and are common inflammatory skin diseases with a central role of T cell-derived IL-
    22
    in their pathogenesis. Although prostaglandin
    E
    2 (PGE2) is known to promote inflammation, little is known about its role in processes related to
    AD
    and ACD development, including IL-
    22
    upregulation.

    OBJECTIVES

    We set out to investigate whether PGE2 has a role in T cell-derived IL-

    22
    induction and development of ACD, which has augmented prevalence in patients with
    AD
    .

    METHODS

    T cell cultures and in vivo sensitization of mice with powerful haptens (oxazolone and dinitrofluorobenzene) were used to assess the role of PGE2 in IL-

    22
    production. The involvement of PGE2 receptors and their downstream signals was also examined. The specific effects of PGE2 during ACD pathogenesis were evaluated by using the oxazolone-induced ACD mouse model. Gene expression of PGE2 and IL-
    22
    signaling pathways was also investigated by using genomic profiling in human lesional
    AD
    skin biopsies.

    RESULTS

    PGE2 promotes IL-

    22
    production from T cells through its receptors,
    E
    prostanoid receptor 2 (EP2) and EP4. This is mediated by its downstream cAMP-PKA signaling and probably involves the transcription factor aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR). Selective deletion of EP4 in T cells prevents hapten-induced adaptive IL-
    22
    production in vivo. Importantly, blockade of endogenous PGE2 production by a COX inhibitor indomethacin or deletion of EP4 in T cells limit atopic-like skin inflammation in the oxazolone-induced mouse ACD model. Moreover, both PGE2 and IL-
    22
    pathway genes were coequally upregulated in human
    AD
    lesional skin but were down-regulated after treatment with betamethasone or ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation, both common therapies for
    AD
    .

    CONCLUSIONS

    Our results thus define a crucial role for PGE2 in promoting ACD by facilitating T cell-derived IL-

    22
    production.

      Replication-incompetent adenovirus (
    Ad
    ) vectors are widely used in gene therapy studies because they are beneficial as a gene delivery vehicle enabling high-titer production and highly efficient gene transfer into a wide spectrum of dividing and non-dividing cells in vitro and in vivo. Theoretically,
    Ad
    genes should not be expressed following transduction with a replication-incompetent
    Ad
    vector. However, leaky expression of viral genes is known to occur following transduction with a conventional
    Ad
    vector, which leads to a cellular immunity against
    Ad
    proteins as well as
    Ad
    protein-induced toxicity. Such
    Ad
    protein-induced cellular immunity and toxicity frequently cause both an elimination of
    Ad
    vector-transduced cells and tissue damage, leading to short-lived transgene expression. To date, no detailed analysis of the leaky expression profile of
    Ad
    genes has been performed. First, we systematically examined the expression profiles of
    Ad
    genes in cells using real-time RT-PCR following transduction with a conventional
    Ad
    vector. The results revealed that significant expression was found for
    E
    2A,
    E
    4, and pIX genes. Next, in order to suppress the leaky expression of
    Ad
    genes, complementary sequences for microRNA (miRNA) were inserted into the
    3
    ′-untranslated region of the
    E
    2A,
    E
    4, or pIX genes. miRNAs are an approximately
    22
    -nt length non-coding RNA, and bind to imperfectly complementary sequences in the
    3
    ′-untranslated region of target mRNA, leading to suppression of gene expression via post-transcriptional regulation. Incorporation of the miRNA-targeted sequences significantly suppressed the leaky expression of
    Ad
    genes in an miRNA-dependent manner.

    両性イオン型高分子をレーヨンに混合紡糸した臭気物質のための新規な繊維状吸着材を試作し,水溶性臭気物質に対する吸着・除去特性を調べた.アンモニアに対する吸着特性を調べたところ,本繊維状吸着材は,繊維母材であるレーヨンと比較して明らかに大きい吸着量と吸着速度を示した.また,消臭加工繊維製品認証試験に従った減少率評価試験を行ったところ,本繊維状吸着材は酸やアミンに対して高い減少率を示したが,アルデヒドや硫化水素に対しては低い値であった.これらの結果から,本繊維状吸着材の吸着機構は,吸着材表面に形成される水和層への分配と両性イオン型官能基への静電的相互作用であることが示唆された.さらに,本繊維状吸着材の再利用の可能性について調べたところ,酢酸に対しては水洗浄により再生可能であることが判った.本検討の結果,本繊維状吸着材は水溶性でかつイオン性を有する臭気物質の吸着・除去に適用可能であると考えられた.

    Reelin is a secreted protein that antagonizes the deposition and toxicity of amyloid β peptide (Aβ). Therefore, augmentation of Reelin activity may ameliorate Alzheimer’s disease (

    AD
    ). We have recently reported that a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs
    3
    (ADAMTS-
    3
    ) cleaves and inactivates Reelin in the mouse brain. In the present study, we investigated the effect of reducing ADAMTS-
    3
    on deposition of Aβ by crossbreeding drug-inducible ADAMTS-
    3
    conditional knock-out (cKO) mice with “next-generation”
    AD
    model mice. We found that reducing ADAMTS-
    3
    inhibited deposition of Aβ significantly in AppNL-
    F
    mice, which produce human wild-type Aβ. On the other hand, reducing ADAMTS-
    3
    had no effect in AppNL-G-
    F
    mice, which produce the Arctic mutant Aβ (
    E
    22
    G) that forms protofibrils more efficiently than does wild-type Aβ. Thus, the findings suggest that the administration of an inhibitor against ADAMTS-
    3
    will prevent the progression of
    AD
    pathology caused by deposition of wild-type Aβ.

    Atopic dermatitis (

    ) is the most common chronic and relapsing inflammatory skin disease. Both abnormal barrier function and abnormal immune function are closely involved in the etiology of
    AD
    . Patients with
    AD
    have been subdivided into abnormal filaggrin, normal filaggrin, high immunoglobulin
    E
    , normal IgE groups, and so on. Regarding local cytokine profiles in the skin of patients with
    AD
    , the involvement of Th2, Th
    22
    , and Th17 cells at the acute stage, and the involvement of Th2, Th
    22
    , and Th1 cells at the chronic stage have been suggested. The IL-
    9
    level has been reported to be higher in patients with
    AD
    than in healthy individuals, but it has also been reported that there are no differences in IL-
    9
    levels between patients with
    AD
    and normal individuals. Thus, the role of IL-
    9
    is unclear. The serum IL-18 level is high and induces Th2 reactions in patients with
    AD
    . IL-21 is thought to suppress IgE formation, but its activity in relation to

    is involved in hyperplasia, increased antimicrobial peptide formation, and reduced filaggrin in patients with

    To determine the position of the anteriorly displaced articular disc, we examined temporomandibular joints by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in 54 patients with unilateral temporomandibular joint dysfunction. MRI was done before conservative therapy in the occlusal and maximal open-mouth position. We drew a straight line connecting the lowest point of the articular eminence (point A) and the highest point of the external acoustic pore (point
    E
    ) by tracing the sagittal view on MRI. On the standard A-
    E
    line, points B', C', and D' were sought by dropping perpendicular lines from the deepest point of the glenoid fossa (point B), the highest point of the condylar head (point C), and the most posterior point of the articular disc (point D). We then determined the sagittal position of the articular disc in the glenoid fossa by measuring the distances

    ' and C'D' and sought the correlation between these distances and clinical findings. The results were as follows. 1. The distance

    化粧に関する心理学的研究は,1980年代から盛んになってきた.化粧は慈しむ化粧(スキンケア)と飾る化粧(メーキャップ・フレグランス)に大別されるが,感情に及ぼす影響に関する研究は,そのいずれもが高揚と鎮静をめぐるものであった. 喩えるなら,メーキャップによって心を固く結んで「公」の顔をつくって社会に飛び出し,帰宅後にはメーキャップを落とし,スキンケアをすることで心の結び目を解いて「私」の顔に戻るのである.すなわち,化粧は日常生活に組み込まれた感情調節装置である.

    The chaperonin containing TCP-1 complex protein 1 subunit zeta (CCT6A) is the only cytosolic chaperonin in eukaryotes assisting in the folding of cytoplasmic proteins. Previous study revealed that the mRNA expression of chicken CCT6A gene was remarkably elevated in the sexually mature ovaries. However, the mechanism underlying chicken CCT6A expression changes remains largely unknown. In this study, haplotypes caused by two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of chicken CCT6A gene promoter (g.-2215 T>C and g.-1959 T>C) were identified and their associations with egg production traits as well as effects on gene expression were analyzed. Altogether four haplotypes including A (C-2215-T-1959), B (C-2215-C-1959), C (T-2215-T-1959) and D (T-2215-C-1959) were detected in all of the five chicken populations. Diplotypes

    and DD were predominant in Xinyang brown hens, among which diplotype

    was associated with higher egg number at the age of 28 weeks old (

    本研究では,色と香りの印象的次元における調和性を検討した.まず,色や香りの印象的次元の抽出と調和関係を検討した.その結果,印象的次元としてMILD,CLEARの2次元が得られ,これらを変数として調和予測式を構成した.次に,色と香りの調和,不調和ぺアを用いて組み合わせによる効果を検討した.そこから,調和ぺアでは,色,香りの本来の印象が強調されること,調和ぺアの方がストレス緩和効果が高いことが分かった.以上を踏まえ,調和予測式を可逆的に確かめた上で,色と香りの調和モデルを提案した.

    日本人は昔から毎日の入浴習慣があり, 体臭も比較的少なく,香りは控えめのものを好む傾向があった.しかし近年,香水や様々な海外製品に触れる機会が多くなったことや食べ物も欧米化したことなどから,香りの嗜好が多様化していることがうかがえる.香りを嗅いでリラックスやリフレッシュをしたい,香りで楽しく幸せな気分で家事をしたいなどのニーズがあらわれてきている.本稿では,重要な役割を占めるようになってきたトイレタリー製品の香り開発事例について報告する.
