    It has been shown after mathematical and mechanical investigation that Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM) can be considered as a method to obtain the necessary condition of Slip Line Method (SLM), and that the solution can be obtained under the condition that Fs=1 and ∂Fs/∂θ=O, where Fs is the safety factor and θ is the inclination of the plane on which the safety factor is defined. Next, the generalized LEM (GLEM) is proposed, dealing with the following points : (1) Triangular or quadrangular blocks can be treated; (2) Safety factors are defined also on interblock planes; and (

    ) All types of plastic problems, slope stability, bearing capacity, and earth pressure are identically formulated. Two situations regarding treatment of the moment equilibrium condition are discussed. GLEM is applied to well-known problems. The results agree well with those obtained by theoretical methods. GLEM can be used to obtain the distribution of earth pressure or bearing capacity. GLEM, Iike ordinary LEM, is very effective for the practical problems, but GLEM is more theoretical and it can result in more accurate solutions.

    The Beckmann rearrangement of aliphatic ketone oximes, R(CHs)

    In Fig.1 and 2, the migratory ratios decrease with reaction time and nearly approach to the ratios of anti-alkyl form/syn-alkylform in benzene(A1) or DMSO(A2)except for (

    ) (See Table 1). From this fact, it has been found that PPA and PPE are inactive for isomerization of the oximes andanti-alkyl oximes rearrange faster than syn-alkyl ones. ln the case of (

    ), migratery ratios are smaller than Ai or A2. As acetonitrile is detected by GLC, it is presumed that fission has been occurred simultaneously with rearrangement in anti-alkyl oxime (eq. (

    )). In the case of 2 P-5 R, all modes of the reaction arethe same as in above, except that the rate of fission is tnuch faster than that in PPA and PPE.
    The reaction of anti-alkyl ketone oximes having a bulky grouphas been greatly influenced by the use of sterically demanding catalysts such asPPA, PPE, and 2 P-5 R.

    The activities of tobramycin derivatives acetylated and ethylated on the

    -N positions were examined. The MICs of these derivatives against tobramycin sensitive strains indicated that 2'-N-ethylated and

    '-N-ethylated derivatives have a fairly good activity, and confirmed that the

    -N position is the most important one for antibiotic activity since

    -N derivatives were less active. The MICs of these derivatives against tobramycin resistant strains, and their inactivation by tobramycin modifying enzymes were examined. These results showed that 2'-N or

    '-N ethylation protects the drug against inactivation by AAC(2') or AAC(

    '), respectively, and 2'-N-ethyltobramycin and

    '-N-ethyltobramycin were active against strains containing these modifying enzymes. On the other hand,

    A method for analyzing the uncertainties involving the use of empirical relationships in design is developed. It is applied to evaluate the reliability of the relationship su(mobilized)=

    (measured), whereby the pertinent uncertainties are analyzed using extensive laboratory and field observed data. On the average, the relationship su(mobilized)=
    0.22σ'p
    (measured) is unbiased and the error implicit in the relationship is about 15%. When cone values are used to infer s'p, additional uncertainties on the mobilized undrained strength will incur resulting mainly from the calibration uncertainty between σ'p and the cone values. Alternatively, vane tests may be performed to infer the mobilized strength using Bjerrum correction factor. Results show that uncertainty level associated with using the vane tests is smaller than that using the cone values, provided that similar scatter is observed between measured vane and cone values at a given site. However, prediction of the mobilized strength is even more accurate if direct measurements can be made on the preconsolidation pressure. The proposed probabilistic method also assesses the benefit of additional tests besides comparing the accuracy of using various soil parameters for predicting mobilized undrained strength. Such information is essential for planning cost-effective site characterization program.

    By employing an undrained cyclic loading ring-shear apparatus, a series of tests to reproduce the dynamic behavior of the Nikawa landslide induced by the January 17, 1995 Hyogoken-Nambu earthquake, is conducted. The test sample is Osaka-group coarse sandy soil taken from the landslide. The initial stress condition acting on a soil element in the sliding surface is applied to the sample. Based on the seismic records monitored at the JR Takarazuka Station, the input seismic wave is synthesized to reproduce the seismic stress acting on the sliding surface. The test results show that the soil failed due to the dynamic loading of the earthquake. The most important results are the excess pore water pressure generation and the acceleration of shear displacement continuing after the main shock. Combined with the grain crushing at the shear zone and the volume reduction in the drained constant-speed ring-shear test, the mechanism of this landslide is interpreted as, shear displacement causing grain crushing in the shear zone and volume reduction, and then resulting in a localized liquefaction phenomenon, "sliding-surface liquefaction". This geotechnical simulation test provides a reasonable interpretation of this highly mobile landslide.

    The pseudo-static analysis has been used in engineering practice to simplify the computation of the upper limit of a slope under seismic load. In this paper, the upper bound technique of limit analysis of perfect plasticity is used to determine the bearing capacity of a foundation near a down-hill slope. In this analysis (Chen et al., 1969; Chen, 1975), a logarithmic spiral rapture (Abdul-Baki et al., 1970; Sawada et al., 1984) is assumed to start at an edge of the loaded area far from the slope. A landslide is assumed to be of rigid body type with the inertia force acted at its center of gravity. The collapse state is reached when the rate of kinematic energy of the landslide together with the load is equal to the rate of dissipation of internal energy along the sliding surface. This energy balance leads to the equation of ultimate load with several parameters. The optimized numerical rcsults with respect to these parameters are compared with those by Kotter's method (Yamaguchi, 1959) and those obtained by the slice method.

    The Yura River in northern Kyoto Prefecture has long caused flood problems in its drainage basin. Specifically, areas downstream from Ayabe, where the river comes down from mountainous regions to a basin, frequently suffered from inundations,

    .g., the Disaster Relief Law was applied eight times in the 60 years from 1953 to 2013. Against those background, river development projects, including levee construction and channel dredging, have been well underway since the late 1950s. The Ohno dam upstream on the main river was completed in 1961. However, the degree of flood safety remained low at that time. In 2004, the heaviest flood in the 50 years since 1953 occurred, followed in 2013 by a massive flood recording the highest water level since observations began at Fukuchiyama. The 2013 flood occurred in the midst of urgent levee construction and land raising based on a river infrastructure development project begun in response to a 2004 flood. This paper outlines damage from floods in 2004 and 2013 and shows the effects of these floods on the inundation depth of levees under development and the effects of the difference in rainfall characteristics in 2004 and 2013 on flood and fine sediment runoff. The effectiveness of the Ohno dam and misunderstandings by residents of the dam are also described. Important points in promoting river development from hard and soft measure are presented for making use of experiences the two disaster in the future.

    ) Tobramycin was used as a probe to determine the relationship between the structure of aminoglycoside antibiotics and their ability to remove this drug from its higher affinity binding site on the ribosome. The dissacharide moieties (neamine, tobramine, gentamine) appeared to have a common binding site, whereas the kanosamine, garosamine and ribose moieties determined the specificity of this binding. Amikacin and butikacin behaved in an anomalous manner in spite of their close structural relationship to tobramycin.

    This paper presents reinforcing mechanisms and a method for analyzing reinforced earth structures. The reinforcing mechanism presented is divided into two stages, a fixed slip surface and an arbitrarily selected slip surface. The mechanism is studied through direct shear tests and plane strain compression tests including some geotextiles. The reinforcing materials considered in this paper only have tensile strength. The authors have already proposed a method called Generalized Limit Equilibrium Method (GLEM) for analyzing stability problems. The validity of the method has already been shown in previously published papers. In this paper, the method is extended to carry out a stability analysis for reinforced earth structures. Finally, large scale model tests for the bearing capacity of foundations on reinforced slopes were carried out to investigate the validity of the proposed reinforcing mechanism and the analytical method. Through comparisons of observations of experiments and results of the analytical method, the validity of the present work is demonstrated.

    長期的に見ると、景気のトレンドが低下し、在庫投資や設備投資の変動が小さくなっている。その背景には、経済のサービス化、グローバル化、DX、研究開発投資の拡大などの経済構造の変化がある。こうした中で、第 16 循環の山(2018 年 10 月)付近においては、景気動向指数(一致指数)と実質GDPの動きに乖離が見られたが、その要因としては、外需の減少ペースが景気を一気に冷え込ませるような急激なものではなかったことが大きい。加えて、労働市場では、人口減少下で女性や高齢者を中心に労働市場に参入する人が増え、雇用所得環境を下支えしていた。コロナショック後は、賃上げのモメンタムが強まっている。今後、労働市場の構造変化がどのように進むのか、それが景気循環にどのような影響を与えるのか、注視していく必要がある。 こうした景気循環の特徴の変化やその背景にある経済構造の変化を踏まえると、景気循環を適切に捉えるためには、第一に、景気循環の転換点を敏感に捉える必要があることに変わりはないが、一方で、第二に、生産に過度に重点を置かず、より幅広い指標を観察すること、第三に、経済の全体的な動向を捉えるという観点から、実質GDPの動向にも留意すること、が必要となろう。
