Abstract
Numerical analyses of the drag coefficients and the heat and diffusion fluxes of a cylinder with and without diffusive surface mass suction or injection were made by the finite difference method for Reynolds numbers ranging from 10 to100, Prandtl or Schmidt numbers from 0.5 to 2.0 and surface mass suction or injection ratios from –0.2 to 0.1. The drag coefficient, heat and diffusion fluxes for the case without surface mass suction or injection were compared with the results of previous workers and showed good agreement. The effect of diffusive surface mass suction or injection on drag coefficient, heat and diffusion fluxes of a cylinder were examined. New correlations of the effect of diffusive surface mass suction or injection on heat and diffusion fluxes in terms of transfer numbers were proposed.
