Abstract
The problem of reflection and refraction at a loosely bonded interface between a viscoelastic solid and a poroviscoelastic solid has been solved. A parameter corresponding to different degrees of bonding between the two media is introduced in the boundary conditions. Analytical expressions for the energy ratios of reflected and transmitted waves and for the interaction energy of different waves have been derived. Numerical results have been obtained for a particular model by taking relevant values of the parameters defining the model. The effects of different levels of bonding between two media have also been discussed. Except at a perfectly bonded interface, the energy is dissipated at a loosely bonded interface. The results have been derived both for high and low frequency waves. The effects of anelasticity of the media, inhomogeneity of the waves and frequency of the waves have also been studied.
