Abstract
Hollow particles which possess gas in the interior are available for thermal insulation materials, soundproofing materials and specific gravity regulators. Biocompatible hollow particles of less than 5μm are expected to be available for ultrasonic contrast agent and drug delivery carrier. Especially, hollow particles of less than 1μm are expected to apply for cancer treatment because it can pass through the expanded blood vessel wall of the cancer cells. In this study, we fabricated hollow particles by generating microbubbles with an ultrasonic generator in the water and by coating cyanoacrylate films around those bubbles in acidic environment. Moreover, we could control the particles size by changing the flow rate of cyanoacrylate-air-ozone mixture gas supplying to the microbubble generator.
