Abstract
This brief survey on control engineering in the United States covers educational activities at the undergraduate and graduate level, in addition to activities in continuing education. A brief history of control research is also included. The major differences between control education in the United States and most other countries is that specialization in control systems occurs mostly at the graduate level and departments of control engineering are very rare.
