Abstract
Some experiments are carried on “Garabo” (Japanese Throstle Spinning) to make clear the mechanism of the spinning, especially of the self-operdted control of yarn thickness. Several factors of the spinning such as equivalent top pot weight which determines control value of yarn tension, packing density of top in the pot, winding speed of yarn spun, rotational speed of the pot, are selected as essential factors and their effects onthickness and twisting rate of the forming yarn are examined by the test “Garabo” machine with measuringapparatus developed. Experimental results show that there must exist in “Garabo” system a kind of self-operated control mechanism on yarn thickness and this mechanism makes possible to form considerably good evenness of the yarn in spite of rather simple mechanism of the machine. The authors propose the qualitaive model of the control mechanism and explain some curious effects of the certain factor using the model.
