Diffusion-Parameter Values on the Ag-Ion Diffused Waveguides Made by Diluted AgNO₃ Melts in the BK7-Glass Substrate

Abstract

In this letter, the surface-index change and diffusion coefficient of the Ag-ion in the diffused waveguides made by diluted AgNO₃ melts in the BK7-glass substrate are determined from the measured effective indices. Based on the determined parameter values, the index profiles are calculated in the planar diffused-waveguides, and also two-dimensional index-profiles in the channel-type diffused waveguides are calculated.
