Pre-ignition caused by spark plug was investigated visually by using an actual engine. As a result, two types of pre-ignition were confirmed, which are heat surface ignition at high revolution and non-heat surface ignition at low revolution. For the latter phenomenon, presumption of the ignition location, investigation of engine parameter sensitivity and comparison of occurrence condition with LSPI caused by red-hot particles were carried out for these pre-ignition.
