Abstract
In order to predict the wear characteristics of Al-Sn-Si alloys used in automotive sliding bearings, it is necessary to understand the transitionprocess of wear mode and its mechanism under lubrication. In this paper, the wear tests were carried out varying sliding speed and load underlubrication with additives, and the wear and seizure mechanisms are discussed. As a result, seizure does not occur with the additive lubricant andtribo-film is formed on the wear surface. In addition, detachment of the tribo-film was observed when the load was increased. Based on theseresults. we proposed a new wear progression process for Al-Sn-Si alloys under lubricating with additives.
