Abstract

In resent years, clients of new detached houses in snowy regions tend to be careful for roof snow removal. These houses are called as "snow-surmountable housing" and subsidized by many municipalities. In this paper, a grouping of the snow-surmountable housing and its new trends of regional expansion are presented using data from a questionnaire into residents of Obanazawa city.
The rapid increase of high-floor type housing accompanied with snow-slipping roofs, mostly 3-storied, is shown through a comparison between newly constructed housing and existing housing stock. The residents of snow-surmountable housing feel very high advantage for snow treatment, while there are some problems, such as, the lack of housing type suitable for densely built-up area, and so on. Implications for future technical and political improvement are reviewed.
