Abstract

Bleaching plants of the paper and pulp industry use various filters for washing away the bleaching solutions remaining in the pulp after completion of various bleaching processes. In recent years, in response to energy issues and environmental issues, the bleaching solutions become higher in temperature and chlorine ion content, etc., and in view of corrosion resistance, any corrosion preventive measure such as using a more advanced filter material is needed.
The present report describes the outline and features of filter corrosion preventing system (PUPRITECTION) using electrolytic protection introduced by Daiki Engineering Co., Ltd. from PAPURICAN, Canada, and presents the electrochemical mechanism of corrosion and basic concepts of electrolytic protection.
