Abstract
The effects of stretching and wet-treating of viscose rayon filaments on the stress-strain diagram, tensile recovery and stress relaxation have been measured with these results :
(1) The mechanical behaviors, such as initial modulus and tensile recovery, of slightly stretched samples (1-2 % strain) differ from the behaviors of original samples.
(2) Low deformation, such as lower than 0.7 %, recovers perfectly.
The strain between 0.7 % and 3 % recovers by wet treatment. Strain higher than 5 % ceaues a permanent set.
(3) The behaviors of filaments successively stretched and wet-treated are not influenced by the stretching degree, and are similar to the original behaviors
