Abstract
The authors have developed to analyze the ink transfer mechanism connecting with paper suface structure, based on the experimental results of previous report described ink covering function F(x) and ink absorption function Φ(x) were successfully expressed as a logarithmic normal distribution function representing pores distribution law of stock in the letterpress solid printing. In this work the ink absorption function Φ(x) was derived as following equation: Φ(x)=α(x)+β(x)/b where α(x) signifies the ink amount immobilized in the depressions of paper surface, β(x) the ink amount immobilized into pores and b the maximum amount of ink immobilized by the stock. It has been confirmed that the equation Φ(x) derived mathematically bears a close resemblance to the logarithmic normal distribution curve, and coincides with the experimental curves obtained from the ink transfer data in previous paper.
