Abstract
A 69-year-old man who developed segmental zoster paresis of the lower right extremity with generalized eruptions is presented. The interval between the skin eruptions and the onset of muscle weakness was 8 days. Manual muscle testing of the right iliopsoas and right quadriceps muscles was 80%. The right patellar tendon reflex had decreased. MRI showed lumbar spondylosis with a bulging disk at L2/3, L3/4, L4/5 and L5/S1. The possibility is suggested that the stenosis of neural foramens may be one of the causes of paresis. The segmental zoster paresis of the right lower extremity improved, however, within 2 months.
