Abstract
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, primary education and secondary education were rapidly expanded and popularized during the period of the 1950s through the 1960s. This research is aimed at exploring the positioning and curriculum characteristics of art teacher education during this period. Teacher education in the early days of the new China mainly took the educational system of the Soviet Union as a reference for art teacher education curriculum planning. Comparing the curriculum plans formulated during this period and those of the period of the Republic of China, and carrying out systemization and analysis on the system and content of art teacher education for primary, junior high, and high schools, this research points out how China constructed and explored the development of art teacher education under the influence of the Soviet mode and traditional Chinese culture.
