Abstract

In this study we evaluate the bonding efficacy of a newly developed adhesive system, Liner Bond II Σ(Kuraray, Japan) for multiple use such as resin composite filling and cementation of the restoration with resin cement. The system consists of a self-etching primerand the dual-cured bonding agent.
Tensile bond strengths between tooth substances and resin composite were measured and resin-dentin interfaces were observed by SEM.
The tensile bond strength promoted by Liner Bond II Σwas as strong as that promoted by Liner Bond II (Kuraray, Japan) and was not affected by 20, 000 thermocycles. SEM observation revealed that the hybrid layer in the dentin-resin interface was very thin (0.5 to 1.0μm).
These results indicate that Liner Bond II Σ promotes good adhesion with thin hybrid layer.
