Abstract
The copolymers composed of methacrylic acid (MAA), n-butyl methacrylate (n-Bu-MA) and polysiloxanes (azobiscyanopentanamide) (VPS-0501 and VPS-1001) as an initiator were prepared. The molecular weights of VPS-0501 and VPS-1001 were of molecular weight as high as 5000 and 10,000, respectively. The copolymers thus obtained were excellent in glossiness and water repellency. The film made of those copolymers cast on glass materials was chemically removable. For the copolymer of lower molecular weight of siloxane, carboxylic acid chains were segregated on the glass side surface of the cast films. As the acid value of those polymers became higher, the film was more easily removed with alkaline chemicals.
