The LaLaCo Chair is a product that might address the issue of postural deterioration resulting from insufficient exercise. This chair has a mechanism that allows the seat to move up and down to help infants fall asleep, but no studies have investigated its effectiveness in improving posture. In this study, we examined the posture-improvement effect of the LaLaCo Chair by quantitatively measuring and analyzing the posture of 10 participants. Four conditions involving different 2 sitting positions and 2 positions of the hands were used in the experiment. The postural improvement rate of the cervical and thoracic vertebrae was calculated in each vertebrae from angle variation while watching the video. As a result, for the cervical vertebra angle in the anterior-posterior flexion direction, the best improvement rate was “without adjustment of sitting position” at approximately 100%. As for the thoracic vertebra angle, the best improvement rate was “with adjustment” condition at approximately 97% and the posture was restored to the same level as the standard posture. In future studies, we plan to analyze the effect of the LaLaCo Chair on motor function.
