Model Development on Radionuclide Sorption in a Sedimentary Rock/groundwater System (1): Effect Factor on Cesium Sorption onto a Sedimentary Rock under Saline Groundwater Condition

Abstract

Several effect factors were studied for discussing Cs sorption. The preliminary results showed competitive ions and ionic strength are key effect factors on Cs sorption. Increase in initial concentration of Cs ([Cs₊]) and liquid-solid ratio (L/S) caused decrease in the distribution coefficients, Kd, whereas no significant pH dependence in pH 4 to 8. Type of sedimentary rock also influenced Cs sorption.
