Abstract
Electroantennograms (EAGs) to 43 kinds of straight chain compounds were recorded from antennae of adult Americal cockroaches. The compounds having a hydroxyl or ketone group produced significant EAG responses. Compounds consisted of six carbons in both series gave the strongest response. Although the amplitude of the responses obtained from male antennae was much larger than that from female, there was basically no difference between the responses to the odorous compounds tested in both male and female antennae.
