Abstract
The effects of various doses of organic insecticides on water loss in 8, 12, and 16-day old larvae of Asota caricae (F.)(Hypsidae : Lepidoptera) have been quantitatively studied. DDT, dimethoate, disulfoton, trichorfon, dichlorvos, endrin, endosulfan, fenitrothion, propoxur, demeton-methyl, parathion and toxaphene were administered at doses of 150, 170, 200, and 250μg. Higher body weight loss was recorded in the treated larvae and this loss was influenced by age. Weight loss in 8 day old larvae was more than that in 12-and 16-day larvae under identical conditions.
