Abstract
sex pheromone of the peach leafminer moth was isolated and identified as 14-methyl-1-octadecene. Isolation was done by high performance liquid chromatography, Florisil column chromatograohy and gas chromatography. Mass spectra of the hydrogenated product and an ozonolysis product of the active compound coincided with those of synthesized 5-methyl-octadecane and 13-methyl-heptadecanal, respectively; mass spectrum of the active compound coincided with that of the synthesized 14-methyl-1-octadecene. The synthesized sex phero-mone was as active as the crude extract from virgin females under field conditions.
