Abstract
Sex pheromone of the eri-silkworm moth Philosomia cynthia ricini DONOVAN was extracted from abdominal tips of the female moths with methylene chloride.Prepurified extract was mixed with that from the silkworm female moths Bombyx mori L., and was reacted with several reagents to characterized their functional groups in the molecules by monitoring bioassays. The sex pheromone of the silkworm moth indicated alcoholic nature as has been characterized, whereas that of the eri-silkworm moth was considered to be a carbonyl compound.
