Abstract
The feedings of some manure-inhabiting mesostigmatid mites on free-living nematodes was examined. Three species of the mites, i.e., Macrocheles muscaedomesticae, Parasitus sp., and Fuscuropoda sp. were ascertained to feed on the following nematode species : Rhabditis elongata, R. teres, Panagrellus redivivus, Aphelenchus avenae, and Aphelenchoides composticora. Glyptholaspis confusa did not get attracted toward the nematodes, while a few mites were also found to feed on the nematodes.
