Abstract

Recently it became possible to obtain the data of aerological sounding in the free atmosphere. Mean cross section through atmosphere along the 8 radiosonde staitons in Japan is presented for summer. The distribution of glacial cirques, glaciated valleys and moraines are given in Table 1 and 2, which shows the average height of the orographic snowline during the glacial age. The relation between the numerical values presented in these tables, seems to show that the lowering of the 0℃ summer mean isotherm in the free atmosphere during the glacial age was less than 1980 m. and the corresponding reduction of the summer mean temperature may be less than 10℃.
