Abstract
Objective: We investigated whether administration of recombinant human growthormone (r-hGH) can efficiently and safely improve lipodystrophy due to anti-HIV drugs.
Materials and Methods: A 24-year-old woman who had AIDSin 1996 was diagnosed as having lipodystrophy due to anti-HIV drugs as well as wasting syndrome in 2000. She was treated with r-hGH.
Results: The administration of recombinant human growth hormone improved her clinical status with no severe complication.
Conclusion: We suggest that one of the reasons for lipodystrophy is the administration of protease inhibitor. R-hGH was beneficial for the treatment of lipodystrophy.
