Abstract
Results of comparative study on subjective assessment of digital video quality are reported in this paper. It is made possible for one of the authors to participate to an activity of the Video Quality Experts Group during its phase 2 project. Data used are from three independent laboratories including data obtained by the authors for varieties of video contents as well as processed by varieties of degradation. Comprehensive comparative analysis is based on fundamental statistics and new way of presentation is introduced. It is found that types of videos can be classified to two classes; one for unanimous agreement of quality, and the other with subjective quality depending on subjects. Further analyses such as dependency of subjective scores on visual power, seat position, age range, gender as well as each independent laboratories are clarified. Normalization of data to common scale is also discussed.
