Abstract

This paper proposes a discrimination method between trees based on the shape of leaves. Features are extracted by the Weighted Direction Index Histogram method from a binarized and normalized leaf pattern. Autoassociative neural networks are used in the distinction process. It is confirmed that the discrimination accuracy is improved by using several leaves of the same tree.
