Shakuhachi notation is a tablature written in special characters unlike a staff notation. The information processing system of shakuhachi notation is introduced in this lecture. It is the multimedia system equipped with various functions needed for processing of a Shakuhachi score, such as handwriting editing, the mutual conversion among various schools, playback with presentation of the performance method, and the mutual conversion between Standard MIDI Files. In order to realize these functions, the data representation method for shakuhachi notation is newly devised. By using this system, it is possible to create a Shakuhachi score effectively and is also expected to use as a beginner's Shakuhachi self-study tool.
